THE HISTORICAL THERMAL STRUCTURES OF BORMIO, BAGNI VECCHI – QC TERME

One of the historical thermal structures of the Alps, the Bagni Vecchi di Bormio, managed by QC Terme, are one of the most original and characteristic structures open to the public.

The Bagni Vecchi of Bormio is a complex perched on a rocky spur, overlooking the Braulio river gorge, along the road to the Stelvio Pass. The thermal water flows naturally at a temperature that varies between 37 and 43°C.

The area of Bormio was already known in Roman times and in particular, this complex was developed in different historical phases, on various levels.

"Bagni Vecchi is an experience to try. We had the pleasure of spending pleasant days in this thermal center. Very well organized and characterized by unique original elements and a spectacular view over the valley of Bormio.

We love the Roman cave, the stone pine sauna, but also the outdoor stone pool with the little church, especially in winter."

Fabio, Lorenzo e Paolo

Bormio's old baths are thermal baths, which combine many original historical elements with new installations, so it is worth remembering that the original spaces of the building have been maintained, slightly sacrificing comfort, but ensuring a typical and unique atmosphere.

There are numerous rooms with swimming pools, walkways in hot and cold water (including the narrow Roman cave carved into the rock), pools (the one in the outdoor church is fantastic), saunas (including the sauna in pinewood with a view of Bormio), relaxation rooms, mud area, outdoor walkways and the restaurant with panoramic windows. The area is mainly organized, for adults (like all the facilities of QC Terme) and the ticket includes the use of a bathrobe and a towel, slippers are mandatory (can be rented on-site). In addition to the daily entrance, afternoon and evening tickets are available.

During weekends and high season, the structure can be crowded, we recommend the visit during the week or low season, especially in autumn, to fully enjoy the colors of the valley. Bagni Vecchi also offers hotel service, with Suites and Junior Suites dedicated to staying on the upper floors of the historic building and access to the spa included.

Bormio is synonymous with thermal waters and there are also the Bagni Nuovi, always managed by QC Terme, a structure of the beginning of the 20th century, more modern and spacious, for those who want a cheaper structure suitable for swimming and children, Bormio Terme at the edge of the village.

The latter is a public structure with various swimming pools, slides, and pools for children, a small wellness area, bar, and solarium.

RIFUGIO SAVOGNO: SLEEP IN A UNIQUE VILLAGE IN THE ALPS

Rifugio Savogno is located in Val Bregaglia, in the beautiful alpine village of Savogno. The sunny and panoramic terrace overlooks the famous waterfalls of Acquafraggia, in the municipality of Piuro at an altitude of 932 m.

Rifugio Savogno is open all year round and can be only reached by foot. The facility is well organized and great for a day trip or as a resting place for hikers of the historic Via Bregaglia path.

A historic mule track connects the village of Piuro to the historic village of Savogno and the Refuge (about 1h).
