The old town of Lindau is located on a 70 hectare Island on Lake Constance (Bodensee) and thanks to its centuries-old buildings, the lively squares and picturesque streets, it radiates an irresistible charm.
Arriving from the mainland, after a short walk on the connecting bridge, you are suddenly immerse in history with the entrance to the main square: the "marktplatz". It is here that the historic heart of Lindau lies, and where some of the most important town monuments stand.
The centre is dominated by the main street "maximilianstrasse": boutiques and shops open along a street, complimented by Gothic and Renaissance houses, frescoed facades that alternate with elegant palaces.

WHEN TO VISIT LINDAU
We spent a beautiful days in this village (connected to the land with a large bridge) during Summer. It was a bit too warm, but thanks to a really good Eiskaffe (iced coffee) that refreshed us quicly, we had been ready to reach the top of the panoramic Lighthouse.
We suggets a visit from April to October and during the Christmas time. Lindau is one of the most famous destinations of the Constance lake, could be really busy during the day.

HOW TO GET TO LINDAU
Lindau is located in the German part of lake Constance - Bodensee. It is well connected and accessible by pubblic transport. It easly reachble by car from Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Germany.
In front the island the are a lot of parking place, by a fee. The best option is to reach Lindau by boat from Bregenz or Fredrichshafen.
The island is a big pedestrian area.

The Mainau island is located in the German part of Lake Constance (north side).
Daily ferries connect the Mainau Island and the medieval village of Merrsburg, or you can reach the island by car from the city of Constance.
If you arrive by car we recommend the big parking areas in front of the main bridge of the island.

MONTE LEGNONE THE PYRAMID OF COMO LAKE
Enjoy a breath-taking view over Lake Como.
Monte Legnone is the highest peak in the area (2609m). Its pyramid-like shape can be easily recognized, located at the end of the north side of Lake Como, between Valtellina, Valvarrone and Valsassina.
Apparently quite rugged at its summit, but it’s still one of the most panoramic peaks in the area, particularly along the track starting from Roccoli Lorla, it offers a spectacular view of the Central and Western Alpine Chain and on the Pre-Alps of Lecco.
From its peak there are different crests going down to the neighbouring valleys and towards the lake; on the east side it is easy to recognize the military paths of the Cadorna Line dating back to the WWI connecting Pagnona (Valvarrone) and Delebio (Valtellina).

HOW TO GET TO THE COLICO AND MONTE LEGNONE
Located at the north of the Como lake the Monte Legnone nearby Colico. Colico is reachble by car driving on the 36ss road, exit Colico.
Colico is connected by train to Lecco and Milan and by boat and bus to Como.
A long trail connects Colico (Aprox. 5h) to the top of Monte Legnone, directly from the houses of Villatico.
Other paths connect the Monte Legnone to Delebio, Dervio and Premana.
