FELDKIRCH AND THE SCHATTENBURG CASTLE MUSEUM

This gorgeous town is definitely worth a visit for those who decide to spend their holidays on the shores of the nearby Lake Constance.

A border town nestled among green highlands, Feldkirch has always been an important economic, political and military crossroads, attracting artists, scientists and writers.

During the First and Second World Wars, many fleeing characters stopped here, including James Joyce, Arthur Conan Doyle and Thomas Mann.

Feldkirch is dominated by the massive medieval fortress of Schattemburg, with its Gothic-style rooms and furnishings and a museum containing collections of historic weapons, locks and other traditional objects.

Medieval charm, a gothic Castel and a typical restaurant, what's else!!

Its old town is perfectly preserved, so you have the impression of returning to magical medieval charm, with its historic streets, frescoed gates and numerous city towers.

For lovers of local cuisine, we recommend the characteristic restaurant in Schattemburg Castle, where you can enjoy a real-life "Wienerschnitzel".

DISCOVER THE FLYING GIANTS IN THE ZEPPELIN AIR MUSEUM

The Zeppelin airships, called after their creator Ferdinand von Zeppelin, were built in Friedrichshafen and were the first air ships to fly over the waters of Lake Constance.

Today, the fascinating Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen is dedicated to the flying giants. If you wish, you can also book a flight on a modern airship, trips take from a half an hour, to two hours, flying over the entire region.

The museum is on three floors and as soon as you enter the building, you encounter the breath-taking reconstruction of a part of the most famous Zeppelin, the LZ 129 Hindenburg.

Nothing remains of the original gigantic balloon - 245 metres long and almost 47 metres wide - because It caught fire just before landing in New Jersey and literally went up in smoke in 36 seconds!

Don't miss a flight on a Zeppelin modern airship, to enjot the Constance Lake from above

The gondola, i.e. The cabin below the rigid balloon which is half rebuilt using various furnishings, along with the panoramic windows and passenger rooms, give a fairly precise idea of what this prodigy of early 20th century technology looked like.

The rest of the museum is no less impressive, giving an itinerary that covers the entire history of aviation from the Middle Ages to the present day, it displays the world's largest collection on aviation history and technology, with the help of period photographs, documents, original recordings and films.

A fascinating story of brave and tireless men who dared to go beyond the clouds.

MEERSBURG THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE OF LAKE CONSTANCE

This small town, dominated by one of the oldest residential castles in Germany, is undoubtedly one of the most characteristic medieval locations of Lake Constance (Bodensee).

Meersburg is divided into two parts: the lower part and the upper part.

The lakeside promenade, in the lower town, provides boat and ferries landings, a lakeside promenade, hotels, restaurants, bars and sport activities, while the upper town on the hill, holds museums, galleries, cafes, shops and vineyards. Both parts of the city have remains of medieval walls (including two ancient gates), and you can go back and forth between the two by a staircase or a street.

"Walking around the village in the evening and Having a romantic dinner with the view of the lake."

Meersburg offers a wide choice of culture and art with its incredible number of museums, such as: the Old Castle (with year-round guided tours), the New Castle (with Baroque rooms, art exhibits, and the Dornier Aviation Museum), the Bible Gallery, a Town Museum, the Wine Museum, and even a Zeppelin Museum that complements the larger Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen.

If you get too tired after a long day in the museums, you can relax visiting the panoramic Meersburg swimming pools and thermal Spa, right in front of the lake.

Meersburg is also a pleasant hub for excursions around the Bodensee, using lake steamers and car ferries or, for the sportier ones, using one of the several Lake Constance's cycle paths.
