THE KAPELLBRUCKE BRIDGE SYMBOL OF LUCERNE
Lucern's landmark is considered to be Europe's oldest covered bridge. It was built in the 14th Century and was originally a part of the city’s fortification.
The paintings, added in the 17th Century, illustrate scenes of Swiss and local history, including the biographies of the city's patron saints, St. Leodegar and St. Maurice.

Much of the bridge and artwork were destroyed in the 1993 fire, but it was promptly restored. The Water Tower, a 43 mt tall octagonal brick tower, is adjacent to the bridge.
In the past the tower served as a prison, torture chamber, watchtower and treasury for the city. Today the tower is a part of the city wall and is used as a club room by a local association.
The tower and bridge are symbols of Lucern and are the most photographed monuments in the country.

VERTEMATE FRANCHI PALACE IN PIURO
Discover and feel the atmosphere of ancient times. The Vertemate Franchi Palace is located in Prosto di Piuro, only two kilometres from Chiavenna.
Built in the second half of the sixteenth-century by the brothers Guglielmo and Luigi Vertemate Franchi, is the only building escaped from the landslide of 1618, which flooded the village and most of the inhabitants.
The palace is a beautiful masterpiece of the Renaissance and provides a real story of the life of a sixteenth-seventeenth-century aristocratic family.
The front is simple and essential, surrounded by light and functional spaces as well as the Italian garden with the fishpond and the double exedra-shaped banister.

Inside: the walls and the arched ceilings are richly painted with frescos especially based on the Ovid’s metamorphosis. Stüe (wooden room) and embroidered ceilings are certainly the wonders of the palace.

A SPECTACLE OF THE NATURE, THE ACQUAFRAGGIA WATERFALLS IN PIURO
The high Acquafraggia waterfalls are situated in Piuro a town of Bregaglia Valley.
With a double jumps of 150m, this nature reserve is the best place to enjoy a whole day to relax, lying close to the river, or walk on the panoramic path beside the water jumps.
In Summer some bars are open at the base of the waterfall and, in the area, typical restaurants offer a selection of genuine alpine food.

NOTTE ROSA ALLE CASCATE
During the weekend the waterfalls are lighted with a scenographic lighting that creates a magic atmosphere for a night selfie. In a July weekend, the waterfalls area is the location for the event "Notte Rosa alle Cascate", with music, concerts, local products and a lot of fun.
SAVOGNO AND THE PANORAMIC PATH
Above the waterfall (1h walk) is located the traditional village of Savogno with its beautiful panorama terrace.This village is a real exemple of medieval alpine architecture, rich of narrow pedestrian passages between the historical buildings.
Savogno is reachable following the original and characteristic path or the beautiful panoramic trail beside the Fraggia river, with an amazing view of the waterfalls (steep stairs on this path).
