RIFUGIO MENAGGIO A BALCONY ABOVE THE COMO LAKE
Rifugio Menaggio is located near the Grona Mountain, one of the most amazing panoramic points of the Como Lake. You can enjoy an incredible landscape view from the top of Lario to Lecco, with the beautiful Bellagio peninsula in the center.
The view is framed by the eastern mountains of the Como Lake, Mount Legnone, the Grigna, Grignetta and the peaks of the Larian triangle. Rifugio Menaggio (1383m) is open almost all year round and can only be reached on foot, starting from the Breglia Mounts above Menaggio (about 1,30 hours walk).
"This refuge was the last stop of our long trekking in 2000. We left Valchiavenna at the end of March and walked for 4 days to the Rifugio Menaggio. We have come back here other times and this small refuge combines a rustic style with a unique view of the Como Lake. The walk from the Breglia mounts is great for a day trip. If you want to go there, we recommend reaching the peak of Mount Grona "

The facility is well organized and is great for a day trip or as a resting place for hikers of the Via del Lario and visitors to the climbing routes and via ferrata (Del Centenario route) of Mount Grona. From the refuge, you can reach the peak of the Mount Gona following the easy main route. You can also continue northwards on the panoramic ridge up to the peak of Mount Bregagno.

MONTE BARRO NATURAL RESERVE
The Barro Mountain divides the Lecco area and the western Como Lake’s one, from the Po valley to the northern area of Milan. Its geographical position contributed to the development of unique flora.
The Barro Mountain’s Natural Reserve was instituted to preserve its flora’s integrity.
The temperate climate facilitates the growth of “flora loca unica” and a natural reserve has been initiated on the Monte Barro.
The Barro Mountain is connected to the Galbiate village by a street that reaches the hostel and the nice church of Santa Maria al Barro. During summer, the street is car-free, but there is a shuttle service available.
Barro Mountain’s Natural Reserve is the best place to enjoy incredible trips surrounded by nature. You can enjoy an amazing view of the valley, lakes, pre-alps, and the Lecco area with the Como Lake, Resegone and Grignetta.
"How many times I’ve gone through the Barro Mountain’s tunnel. It marks the border between the Alps and the Como Lake with the Po valley. During winter, it may happen that north from the Barro Mountain the sun shines, while the valley is enshrouded in mist.
Many people don’t even imagine that the Barro Mountain is a green natural reserve where it is possible to enjoy a nice walk and an incredible view. The best moment I had, was during an evening visit to the little church of Santa Maria al Barro. At the end of the tour, I took a picture from the hermitage balcony that captured that amazing moment."

Besides the many tours, you can visit the Brianza Ethnographic Museum, the archaeological park with remains of the 5th century B.C., the flora center (CFA – Centro Della Flora Autoctona), and go rock climbing at the Camporesio cliff.
You can reach the highest peak of the Barro Mountain from the church of Santa Maria al Barro through a nice path with a 30-minute walk. For the more athletic, they can reach the peaks of the Barro Mountain from the Galbiate and Civate villages.
Besides the hostel, there are some seasonal restaurants and kiosks (Monte Barro hermitage restaurant, Galbiate Alpine Mountain Hut).

Almost every week a shuttle bus is available and connects the landing area of Suello to the top of the mount Cornizzolo (the access with a private vehicle is forbidden).
Paragliding school is available in the Cornizzolo area, to be able to enjoy this beautiful sport. Paragliding is a sport for every age and to become a pilot a valid certificate by an official school is obligatory.
During the Cornizzolo Cup, the mount Cornizzolo is the location of the paragliding world Cup, a beautiful event to discover and admire this sport.
The mount Cornizzolo is also a great area for panoramic exscursions. The mountain house "Rifugio Sec Marisa Consigliere" (1100m) is situeted near the top of the mount Cornizzolo and is reacheble also by shuttle bus. By foot is almost 2 - 3h of walking following the paths and starting from the villages of Suello or Civate.
One of the most important place to visit is the romanic Abbey of San Pietro al Monte (650m), a beautiful bulding in stones, reachble only by foot.

The San Pellegrino Therme are located near the mountain overlooking the village of San Pellegrino Terme, next to the structure of the Casino.
A wide and elegant staircase will welcome you at the entrance of the gardens, thus reaching the main body where the reception and changing rooms are located. This part is the historical complex, where you can still see the fountains of the San Pellegrino spring.
The wellness area starts on the first floor of the historical building and continues along an internal walkway, which connects the new modern body and the external area.

The thermal center has been optimally enhanced and offers services of the highest level, design, and a very welcoming atmosphere, with numerous rooms, pools, saunas, hay sauna, relaxation rooms, swimming pools, as well as outdoor space with terraces, gardens and swimming pools.
The area is mainly organized, for adults (like all QC Terme facilities) and the ticket includes the use of a bathrobe and a towel, slippers are mandatory (can be hired on-site). In addition to the daily entrance, afternoon and evening entrances are available, including the Aperiterme formula - evening entrance with buffet aperitif in the historical hall of the springs. During weekends and high season, the structure can be crowded, we recommend a visit during the week or low season, especially in autumn, to fully enjoy the colors of the valley.
San Pellegrino is experiencing a period of renovation and many structures are about to be recovered. Currently, in addition to the spa, it is possible to walk along the arcades of the main street, in front of the river Brembo (from which the famous Brembo brakes are named).
The Grand Hotel and the historic funicular are in the process of being restored, and the water company San Pellegrino is also planning a brand new and modern Factory store at the entrance of the village.
